Match: 32nd match
Date: 16th January 2019,Wednesday
Tme: 7.15 PM Local Time
Venue: Sydney cricket ground,Sydney
The ongoing Big Bash League season will see the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades facing each other for the second time. This is also the first of the five consecutive home matches for the Sixers who are currently at the third position in the points table after eight matches with four wins. Even the Renegades are in the mid-table clash with them at the fifth place with the same points.
Both the teams are coming off thumping losses in their previous encounters and no wonder would be looking to improve their show. The Sixers will start as the favourites having won the previous clash between the two sides comfortably by 33 runs. Their batting has blown hot and cold this year and looks finally settled to post and gun down the decent totals. Moises Henriques, the skipper, has also come back in form at the right time as they will be looking to drive home the advantage.
The Renegades have not been consistent enough despite promising a lot this season. They succumbed to the heavy defeat of 101 runs against the Heat and surely wouldn’t want to happen again with the tournament moving fast with every passing day. The team looks fairly settled even as Cameron White’s absence is still not known from the playing XI. They will be eager to shrug off the loss from the last game and start thinking about the knockout phase now.
Justin Avendano injured himself prior to the last match and has not recovered yet. That will be a blow as he was good for the sixers. But James Vince is there and he is a great addition to the side. Abbott and dwarshuis have to be on their toes as Curran is leading the bowling department.
Melbourne is expected to bring Kane Richardson in place of Mennie who.conceded 46 runs in 3 overs against Brisbane Heat. Dan Christian has been inconsistent barring the first two matches.
in the last five Sydney have 4 wins and just 1 loss. Melbourne lost the last match chasing a paltry 132 so Sixers will be confident again.
The Sixers have made one change to their squad bringing in Lloyd Pope for Justin Avendano who got injured in the warm-up. Though it looks unlikely that they will make any changes to the playing XI unless the pitch offers a significant turn.Kane Richardson returns to the squad after recovering from the hamstring soreness which led him to miss a couple of matches. He might replace Joe Mennie.
Melbourne Renegades –
Mackenzie Harvey, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper (wk), Tom Cooper (c), Beau Webster, Mohammad Nabi, Daniel Christian, Jack Wildermuth, Cameron Boyce, Kane Richardson, Harry Gurney.
Daniel Hughes, Jack Edwards, James Vince, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Josh Phillipe (wk), Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve O’Keefe, Ben Dwarshuis, Ben Manenti.
Weather – Its expected to be clear throughout the day with mild.temperature of 25-27℃. Adelaide has seen too much heat yesterday nut Sydney would be much pleasant.
Ground – This will be the third game at the SCG this season and two matches at the venue so far have seen the scores of 164 and 130 in the first innings. Batting first looks to be the good option.
Toss- Slow nature of the pitch will confuse the captain what to do but they might go for chasing. But batting would not be a bad option either.
Prediction- Sydney Sixers will be confident in front of their home ground and many will tip them to win. But we think Melbourne will come up as winner of this match.
