The season of cricket has truly arrived as almost every part of the globe is enjoying cricket matches today, be it t20,test or ODI. Bigbash has started in December and BPL is starting today. There are two matches today and in first one Melbourne Stars will face Sydney Thunder.
Both the teams have a winning streak. Stars beat Renegades last time and Sydney beat Perth in a very narrow one run win. Stars have looked like a complete package in the last game. They restricted Renegades to sub par total and chased it comfortably with the help of Stoinis heroic. Stoinis looked like himself in thia match. Sheer power, great timing was there to be seen. Their bowling in last two.matches have fared well. But Sandeep has gone away for BPL and Plunkett is there to fill his void. Beer might get a chance in this match for left arm orthodox.
The Thunders got a narrow escape but things were in their favour the whole second innings. Their bowlers mesmerised everyone with spin wizardry. The spin troy of Fawad, Cook, Green make the Perth collapse but some late hitting from Turner made the match interesting. Although that couldn’t make a difference. Buttler is looking like a run machine this season. In almost every match he scored close to 40 or better than that. He is playing some great cricket and is the main batsman of his team.
In the last five matches between these sides it is a great surprise that Stars haven’t won a single game against Thunder. They are winless in four seasons against Sydney. Surely they would like to break the streak.
No changes have been made for Sydney but one forced change is there for Stars. Sandeep has gone and Liam Plunkett will be taking his place.
Ben dunk, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Seb Gotch, Dwayne Bravo, Nick Larkin, Liam Plunkett, Michael Beer, Adam zampa, Evan Gulbis, Scott Boland.
Jos Buttler, Joe root, Shane watson, Cllum Ferguson, Jason Sangha, Daniel Sams, Fawad ahmed, Chris Green, Jono Cook, Sam Rainbird, Gurindher Sandhu.
Weather- Will be around the cooler side and not that heat. A good atmosphere for a t20 match.
Ground – This is the same ground that hosted the match between Brisbane and Sixers. 164 was chased by sixers. The ground is not short but not long too. A very reasonable size ground with fast outfield. Expecting a score around 165-70 again.
Toss- should bowl first as the ground is not that old, batting first here is very tricky. Wouldn’t take risk any of the team.
Prediction – Stars are playing well but Lamichhane was a key bowler and that might be a factor today. So predicting a Thunder win again.
