After about a week off, the Hobart Hurricanes will be back into action on Monday. The side has had a dream start to the tournament winning the first five games. However, the Melbourne Renegades came in their way and stopped them from making it a double hat-trick. Yet, with 10 points, it is still the Hurricanes who top the points table even though all the other teams have played at least seven games on an average.
Hobart had a brilliant start to the tournament with 5 consecutive wins and then they lost the last match. But they will be keen to get back on winning terms. It will be George Baileys 50th big bash match. He will be the only Hobart player to do so. They have a solid line up and don’t need any change. Their bowling is doing very good. Short hasnt been selected for national team so Hobart will get him for the whole BBL. Over all Hobart will play this match with pressure less mind.
The Stars have suffered two straight losses against the Scorchers and the Strikers. They’ll also be keen on redeeming themselves with a good show in front of their home crowd. But a set of valuable players are away on international duty that has created a hole in their line up. Michael Beer has been injured and that is another blow for them. But in front of their home crowd they will try to leave the past behind and play well in present. Mic Maddinson and Dunk have to step.up in rhe batting dept whereas Bravo will have a vital role in bowling.
In the last five matches Melbourne have two wins and Hobart have three. But in the MCG Ground Melbourne have a very good record They have won 80% matches here against Hobart.
The Melbourne Stars have only made one change to their 13-man squad. Tom O’Connell replaced Michael Beer but might not make it into the eleven as yet. The same set of players who played against the Adelaide will feature. Hobart have named an unchanged squad.
Ben Dunk, Evan Gulbis, Nic Maddinson (C), Seb Gotch (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Jonathan Merlo, Liam Plunkett, Nick Larkin, Scott Boland, Jackson Bird, Liam Bowe.
D’Arcy Short, Matthew Wade (C & wk), Ben McDermott, Alex Doolan, George Bailey, Simon Milenko, James Faulkner, Johan Botha, Jofra Archer, Clive Rose, Riley Meredith.
Weather- The weather would be ssuitable for a good game with not very chilly atmosphere. Dew will come definitely. Temperature shoul be around 18-20℃
Ground- The wicket at the Melbourn isn’t typically a high-scoring one. The batsmen will have to labour hard to put runs on the board. The bowlers who have some pace variations to work with will find a great deal of success on this track where the ball holds up a bit. Batting becomes easier later.
Toss- It is preferable chasing on this ground as it is tough to determine a good total batting first. Also, the pitch quickens up as the game progresses making the chase slightly easier. Moreover, the dew factor will come into play and the toss will have a huge say on deciding the winner of this game.
Prediction – The team that bats second is likely to win the game and the Hobart Hurricanes appear to be the better of the two sides. They have a great combination and all their players are in good form. Melbourne lost some players so Hobart will be favourite.
