Series: Big Bash League 2018-19
Match: 11th match
Date: 28th December, Friday, 2018
Time: 7.15 PM Local Time
Venue: Bellerive Oval, Hobart
This big bash has been a series of low scoring games. Every time a team bats first it keeps losing wickets and in only 3 match team batting first have put some decent runs on the board. The chasing team is winning the most of the games and some public dissatisfaction is there to look at on various social platforms. People want competitive games and tomorrow just provide that.
Hobart and Sydney thunder have started the tournament well with both the teams winning their opening two games. One of the teams have to lose tomorrow and it will break their streak.
Sydney Thunder have all the bases covered and are already looking like the team to beat in the tournament. Daniel Sams in particular who have joined from Sixers this summer has done wonders for them. In both the matches he showed his batting capability with some serious pace bowling. Watson would like to score some runs on top of the order with Buttler. Otherwise they have a great line up and no worries in the dug out.
Hobart have begun the tournament on a high and like last season Darcy Short is the top scorer already, he is having a go with the bowl too. Jofra Archer is playing well but Tymal Mills hasn’t recovered from injury yet. But their bowlers are doing well and the batsmen have done a decent job so far. But tomorrow they will face a great bowling side so then they have to show if they are capable in the crunch situation.
Hobart has been a ground known for runs and if that happens the spectators will have a competitive game to witness. We expect that too.
In the last five matches Hobart have won three games against Thunder and lost twice. Last time they met Hobart scored 189 and defended it by just 9 runs. So a great clash is ahead tomorrow.
No changes for Hobart from the last match. And the Thunder have the same squad too.
Alex doolan, Darcy Short, Matthew Wade, George Bailey, Ben Mcdermott, Simon Milenko, James Faulkner, Jofra Archer, Johan Botha, Riley Meredith, clive Rose.
Shane Watson, Jos Buttler, Jason sangha, Joe Root, Daniel sams, Nathan McAndrew, Fawad Ahmed, Callum Ferguson, Chris Green, Jono Cook, Sam rainbird.
Weather- Hobarts forecast shows a little bit of rain chances but that should not bother anyone as it should be a passing shower if it occurs.
Ground- The ground is not that big and batting has been easy. Runs will be scored with spinners getting a bit of turn. The new ball would be the one to pick and play shots.
Toss- Team winning the toss should bowl first. The ground is known for chasing. Some big scores have been chased here. If batting first team has to score around 170 to give a fight.
Prediction – The game is a real doubt creator with both the teams match each other neck and neck. A 50-50 game is on offer so its really hard to predict a winner. But given Hobarts previous matches here and also a home crowd behind them we predict Hobart as the Winner for Today.
