Series: Big Bash League 2018-19
Date: 07th February 2019,Thursday
Time: 7.30 PM local time
Venue: Bellerive Oval, Hobart
The Matthew Wade-captained Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades, led by Tom Cooper, have already qualified for the semi-final of this edition’s Big Bash League. However, both would be looking to not lose the winning momentum ahead of the knock out stages. They are next scheduled to lock horns in the next match of the T20 tournament at the Bellerive Oval.
The Renegades have won their previous three matches and they would be keen to win their last league match. The Renegades last won against the Sydney Thunder at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne by 27 runs. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, were the first team to qualify for the knockouts and they are also in a positive frame of mind after beating Adelaide Strikers by seven wickets.
If the Hurricanes win, they’ll seal the top spot on the points table. The Renegades might have an opportunity to top in case they register a victory. While the Melbourne franchise has won three games consecutively before this encounter, the Hurricanes lost in their previous match against the Adelaide Strikers. It should be a great battle given that these two teams have been playing some terrific cricket this season.

Ground and Conditions- The pitch has been a batting paradise, thus far and all three matches in this season’s BBL were a witness to some fairly high scoring encounters. And, in all three instances, the teams, batting second came out trumps, which means that the track gets better in the second half of the game. Hence, it won’t be a surprise if the teams opt to field first after winning the toss.Average score batting first here is 163. Team chasing has won all 4 games.
Toss- Both the teams like chasing. But recently Renegades have done very well batting first. So they might try to do that. But this ground is suitable for chasing.
Predictions – both the teams are in semi final so some changes might happen. Hobart will be favourite as they will have home support behind them. Our cricket tips is Hobart will be the winner today.
