Series : Big Bash League 2018-19
Match: 47th Match
Date: 31st January 2019,Thursday
Time: 7.30 PM Local Time
Venue: Aurora Stadium, Launceston
The Hobart Hurricanes have arguably been the best team in this edition’s Big Bash League, With nine victories from 11 matches, they have dominated most teams and have qualified for the next round. Their next match is scheduled tomorrow against defending champions Adelaide Strikers at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston. Their aim would now be to end the league phase on top of the table.
Their last win against Brisbane Heat by nine wickets would keep them in good stead ahead of the next match. The Strikers, on the contrary, aren’t in the greatest of shapes and are at the sixth position with only four wins. Another defeat would knock them out of the championship. The Strikers lost their last four matches and are in dire need of a win in order to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
D’Arcy Short and Matthew Wade are in the form of their life and they would need to deliver. Caleb Jewell and Ben McDermott would bat at number three and four. The very experienced George Bailey and Simon Milenko are the men in the middle order. Faulkner and Archer are no mugs with the bat. Both would also be needed with the ball. Rose, Moody and Freeman are the other bowling options. Our cricket tips is Mcdermott should bat at top of the order.
For Adelaide, Jake Weatherald and wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey form the opening combination. Jake Lehmann and skipper Colin Ingram are slotted to bat at number three and four respectively. Jonathan Wells and Matt Short are the other batsmen. Michael Neser and Rashid Khan are the genuine all-rounders. Neser will also partner Billy Stanlake, Peter Siddle and Ben Laughlin in the fast bowling department. Our cricket tips is Matt Short should be benched.
Hobart Hurricanes- D’Arcy Short, Matthew Wade (C & wk), Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, George Bailey, Simon Milenko, James Faulkner, Jofra Archer, Clive Rose, David Moody, Jarrod Freeman
Adelaide Strikers- Jake Weatherald, Alex Carey (wk), Jake Lehmann, Colin Ingram (captain), Jonathan Wells, Matt Short, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake
Ground and conditions – The venue has only been a witness to one encounter between the Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers and it turned out to be pretty one-sided. Moreover, batsmen found it tough to score runs as 217 runs were possible in almost 38 overs.
Toss- As per the pitch condition teams would tend to bat first here. This pitch is very sluggy and runs are hard to.come by. So chasing would be very difficult.
Prediction- Adelaide need wins desperately and our cricket tips is they will wil this match here. Hobart this season have won continuously but Strikers should stop them.
