Series: Bangladesh Premier League 2019
Match: 24th Match
Date: 21st January 2019, Monday
Time: 6.30 PM Local time
Venue: Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka
The match between Dhaka Dynamites and Chittagong Vikings at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium has all the ingredients for a riveting encounter. Both teams have lost only one match each in this year’s Bangladesh Premier League and have arguably been two of the best sides in the T20 tournament. Earlier Dhaka lost against Rajshahi Kings but made an incredible comeback against the Sylhet Sixers.
The Shakib Al Hasan-led team would be satisfied that they will be returning to their home-ground and that is expected to give them an edge over their opponents. The Vikings emerged victorious in their last three matches and seem to have found the right combination going ahead in the event. They would be confident after beating Khulna Titans, but overhauling Dhaka won’t be a walk in the park for them.
Chittagong Vikings played their first match after a six-day break against Khulna but they didn’t look rusty and beat Khulna Titans by 26 runs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The encounter was also a witness to the maiden 200 plus score in this edition’s Bangladesh Premier League. While Mushfiqur Rahim’s Vikings moved to the second position of the table, Khulna lost their sixth match in this season.
Dhaka against Sylhet in last match riding on Shakibs bat made a mockery of a decent target.All.of their players are in form. But sadly Aliss Islam is injured and his BPL might be over. So Dhaka should include a spinner in their side.
In the last five matches between these teams Dhaka have won all matches. Chittagong faces their biggest rival today. They will be eager to break the winning streak of Dhaka.
The Dynamites may replace off-spinner Aliss Islam with Shuvagata Hom, whose inclusion also strengthens the batting to some extent. Darwish Rasooli would bat at number five.
The left-right duo of Mohammad Shahzad and Cameron Delport will open the batting. Yasir Ali and Mushfiqur Rahim are slotted to bat next. Provided Robbie Frylinck gets fit, the axe may come down on Najibullah Zadran as Dasun Shanaka was excellent with the bat in hand.
Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Cameron Delport, Yasir Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim (C), Dasun Shanaka, Najibullah Zadran/ Robbie Frylinck, Mosaddek Hossain, Nayeem Hasan, Sunzamul Islam, Khaled Ahmed, Abu Jayed
Mizanur Rahman, Sunil Narine, Rony Talukdar, Shakib Al Hasan (C), Darwish Rasooli, Andre Russell, Mohammad Naim, Nurul Hasan (wk), Andrew Birch, Rubel Hossain, Shuvagata Hom
Weather- It will be a night game so the winters chilly breeze will be there. dhaka will have less dew than Sylhet but the dew will definitely come into the match.
Grounds and Conditions – It goes without saying that dew is likely to make life difficult for the bowlers in the evening matches. Spinners may find it hard to grip the wet ball. Therefore, the teams may field first and then go after the target. The batsmen of both Dhaka and Chittagong are in red-hot form and it won’t spring a surprise if a high-scoring affair unfolds.
Toss- A win the toss and bowl first situation will be there. But Dhaka have done well batting first so they might think they can bat again.null
An even match it will be with toss being a good factor. Team batting second would be more favourite. In our picks We choose Dhaka as the winner.
